HATE PAGES

Full page hate

(Story by Drinking Liberally)

A group calling themselves “America Forever” pulled a full-page ad in the Sunday Salt Lake papers warning Utahns of the “homosexual movement”. In the Tribune it’s on page D12, and I’m sure that it’s in the Deseret News too. The ad is full of lies and fear tactics and it’s scary that there are people that believe this. My first instinct was to laugh because it seems like it should be bad satire, but this group seems legit.

  2. Are Gayle Ruzicka and her crew at Utah Eagle Forum coordinating with America Forever in a PR ploy to make Gayle’s current position appear less extreme by comparison? There’s a connection between the two groups in the person of Utah attorney Matthew Hilton, who’s worked for and with both groups. Suspicious.

      Chino;

You’ve hit the nail on the head. I’ve been searching for a solid connection between the two. But Mr Hilton is the only thing I can see. Anyone know anything different?

Heh… these people are completely unintelligent.

    Take a look here:

    http://www.americaforever.com/inn_proclamation_war.htm

This takes Michael Swift’s satirical classic and twists it into “the gay agenda.”

The tragic part of this is that the majority of conservative people who read this page in the paper will immediately choose to take it as “gospel” truth, thereby keeping them forever ignorant.

People don’t WANT to be proven wrong about their prejudices… they’ve developed those erroneous beliefs about others that are “different” so that they can maintain some sense of order in the their world view. Any new information that challenges their standpoint is usually disregarded.

It’s called a “sealed premise.” It’s tougher than steel.

So… the biggest question is this:

How do we get these kind of people to listen? Because, these are the idiots voting against us.

Chances are, it’s gonna require the “fear of God” to get them to do much of anything.

  5. Eric,

The only other thing I’ve found so far are the minutes of a bunch of Utah senate and house committee hearings that place America Forever and Eagle Forum together in the room speaking for the same side. In some instances, these two groups were the only people in the room speaking for their side:

Someone local should ask Gayle to comment on America Forever and that ad of theirs.

It saddens me to see with all the growth the country has achieved with the first black president and the first viable woman candidate that we are still so intolerant of others who we think of us different. Outside the norm. Not accepted in polite company. We only know what we want to know and close our eyes and ears to the possibility of someone being different then what we think they should be. It is too bad love has to be boxed in and regulated and conform to certain ideals.
